Amazing Early 90s Custom! (Consignment) (Stock #1197)

This is an amazing guitar. The look is perfect. It has a nice amber tint to the cream that only comes with age and playing. The tone is huge, this is a rock and roll machine. It just sings with amazing clarity and a nice, balanced overall tone. The guitar plays beautifully and the ebony board feels as smooth as glass. The neck is a very comfortable medium C. This guitar has been played and has some minor wear but is in overall very good condition conceding it is 25 years old. The only modifications are upgraded pickups (originals included), flush mount strap locks, and upgraded pots and caps. The current pickups are made by MJS and sound amazing.

Comes with original pickups and currently installed MJS (see link below), 14.5K Alnico V pickup in the bridge. For tone’s sake, this pup can be compared to a Steve Stevens Bare Knuckles Rebel Yell or perhaps a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck model. MJS is a 30-year custom pickup builder in Toronto – he’s legitimately one of the best builders in the world, making exceptional sounding pickups. Because he’s not a mass producer in a factory, his ‘hand wound’ pickups are legitimately hand wound at much lower speed (to best scatter wind creating fabulous overtones) because he can afford to do so with lower overhead and because he cares about the quality of his products more than he does net profit. The pickup covers are actually from 1972. The tone is remarkable – distorted, yet with great clarity and articulation. Rolling back the volume control takes off the edge for a wicked 70s classic rock tone – it’s a legitimately versatile pickup. Additionally, there’s a push pull pot on the tone control that offers the option to run the pickup in parallel, which further gives a ‘spankier,’ brighter/slightly cleaner sound.

The neck pickup contains MJS Rare Earth magnets which is exceptionally responsive. It’s not as warm as an Alnico II for example, but is far more articulate, making it a refreshing alternative sound to Alnico IIs which can sometimes sound muddy or washed out in the neck depending on certain factors. Additionally, the tone control has a push pull pot that splits the coil, making it a sing coil pickup which also comes in handy in desired single coil applications.
